What Is the Future of T1 Service?

T1 Service has been the backbone of business communications for the past thirty years. We've seen T1 Pricing driven down year after year. Is T1 Service obsolete? No not yet, the embedded investment in copper wires is too great to be abandoned just yet. T1's will continue to provide service to small and medium sized business's key systems and PBX systems for a long time. T1's and HDSL delivery will continue to be the most efficient means for business data, phone and Internet service in areas where fiber has not been deployed.

As T1 Pricing is approaching $200/month in some areas T1 Service just makes too much business and financial sense to be abandoned in the short term. Fiber optic service is deployed in many urban areas and in those areas direct Ethernet connections are the most efficient for businesses and data centers with large data bandwidth requirements. Even in areas with robust fiber optic deployments T1's will be the method for providing last-mile connectivity for a long time. Or in other words, T1's will continue to utilize the embedded copper wire base to access fiber optic transport facilities for many years.

If you consider the demographics of the US, many people do live in urban areas where it's cost effective to deploy fiber optic based services. However consider the thousands of small and medium sized cities in rural areas that will not see widespread fiber optic data service deployments for many years. In most of the country T1 service will reliably serve those areas for years to come.

T1's also offer the flexibility to grow with a business's data requirements. From the smallest business data service, Fractional T1 to larger DS3 services T1's and their variants are here to stay. Many businesses start with one or two T1's for voice and Internet data, then grow to Bonded T1 service where T1's are bundled together for additional bandwidth up to DS3 or Fractional DS3 service. So T1's are here to stay.

T1 service is often the most cost effective solution for small and medium sized businesses looking for a robust and ultra-reliable voice and Internet data serve. They are monitored 24/7 and offer true bandwidth guarantees. Couple that with providers aggressive T1 Pricing and they will be here for many years to come. T1 brokers can help leverage buying power and also represent multiple carriers. Instead of calling the local phone company to get "The Price" of T1 service, a broker or Telecom Consultant can look at multiple carriers to find the best solution for a business's present and future Internet data and voice phone service needs and the best T1 Pricing available.
