Video conferencing has been used by large companies for many years. This is especially true for multinational businesses because they save millions of dollars a year by connecting through the Internet rather than flying representatives from one country to another. Today, video conference technology is being used more and more by small businesses as well.
As a small business owner you may not need to buy high priced plane tickets to fly around the world. You may not even have representatives or workers that work outside of your office. That's understandable, but there are still some very clear reasons to start using a video conferencing service.
#1: Increased Productivity
You may not have a lot of employees and you may not have offices around the world, but you do have business connections and customers that you need to communicate with. Think about how much time you spend driving from one meeting to another, connecting with customers, showing property, and doing other business related duties that require communication with other people.
Now, think about how many of those meetings and showings could be handled through a video conference. How many of those communications could be adequately covered through the Internet in a face-to-face virtual meeting rather than traveling to sit in the same room with someone?
When you start doing more of your communications and meetings through video conferencing, you cut all of that travel time out of your day. What could you do with all of that extra time? Perhaps plow through that ever-growing to do list?
#2: Financial Savings
When you spend all that time traveling around from one meeting or conference to another you waste much more than time. You also waste money on gas and give up other sales opportunities that you are too busy to take advantage of. You can save tons of money just by doing more of that communication from your office with video conferencing.
You don't have to be a huge multinational business to save money through video conferencing. If you spend any amount of time reaching out to others and driving around, there are ways to save money with digital conferencing.
#3: Educational Opportunities
There are always highly influential and accomplished people in your industry who you can learn from or who you would like your employees to learn from. Most small businesses cannot afford to have these professionals come to their office for events, but they can afford to bring them in through a video conference.
Reach out to people in your industry who you feel you could learn a lot from or who may educate your employees, and ask them if they would be open to speaking through video conference with your employees. Their fee for this will be much less than having them come in person because they don't have any travel expenses. This opens the door to educating your employees and allowing everyone to learn something new from some of the biggest names in your industry.
Small businesses are becoming far more productive because of video conferencing. They are also becoming stronger than ever by learning from big names in their industry that they wouldn't otherwise be able to learn from.
You could even start getting paid to conference with others if you have something of value to talk about!
